HIMG_3647.jpg - An aerial photo taken 22/01/05 from over the Tonle Sap, looking towards the new Ministry of Foriegn Affairs (MFA), located directly behind the Naga Hotel and Casino (white bldg. on right). Directly behind the MAF is the initial construction of the National Assembly building, and beyond that is the former National Theatre of the Performing Arts (the arrow head shaped building, since demolished and sold for development). At the top left corner of the photo is the Dey Krahom community/slums; all resident here have been displaced and the area bulldozed for sale to developers. The small square at the tip of the goals central spire on the MFA building is now the location of the new Australian Embassy. The strip of slum housing located next to the Embassy site is the start of the former Sambock Chab community/slums, which was a large slum that extended from here in the photo to the bank of the Bassac River; all families in this slum have now been forced to leave and the housing bulldozed to make way for development associated with the Diamond Island City (Koh Pich) development. Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
